Electrocuted? Not your fault? Call Camps for advice on a compensation claim

Making a claim for compensation after electrocution

Being electrocuted can be a terrifying and painful experience, and it is certainly not something you would want to happen to you.  But what if you were electrocuted through no fault of your own?  Here at Camps Solicitors we can help people who have been electrocuted through the negligence of another person, or as a result of poor safety procedures at work or poorly maintained equipment to make a No-Win No-Fee compensation claim.

Many people will have received a small shock from static electricity.  These shocks are due to a build up of electrical charge on your clothing which happens when you walk on certain types of carpet or when you are in a moving vehicle.  Shocks from static electricity are rarely more than a minor annoyance and are unlikely to leave you with any lasting injuries.  However a shock caused by mains electricity is likely to have much more serious consequences.

Mains electricity; which in the UK is at 240 volts, can deliver a deadly electric shock.  Badly maintained equipment, aging wiring, sockets with too many appliances attached to them and the presence of water near any electric wiring can be a recipe for disaster.  Workers in the construction and demolition industries are also at risk from electric shocks if, for example, they come into contact with live electric wiring concealed within the walls, floors or ceilings of a building they are working in.

Electric shocks from faulty equipment don’t just happen in heavy industry; in factories and construction sites.  Even a small office can have dozens, if not hundreds of electrical devices plugged in and turned on at all times.  If any of these devices aren’t kept properly maintained and in safe, working order, then the risk that someone using them will receive an electric shock is greatly increased.

Claiming compensation for an electric shock at work

If you have suffered an electric shock whilst at work and it was through no fault of your own, you may be entitled to make an accident claim for personal injuries compensation.  The solicitors and legal staff at Camps can help you to make your claim on a No-Win No-Fee basis, which means that you will not have to pay our legal fees, win or lose.

Our staff will investigate any electric shock accident thoroughly; if necessary we can examine the scene of the accident and the equipment that gave you the electric shock.  We will look at the health and safety policy of your employer, or the organisation who owned the property and premises involved in the accident to see if all the relevant regulations had been followed, and if they were at fault then we will pursue a compensation claim for you.
