How much is my face injury compensation claim worth? (Part 1)

Guideline amounts for face injury compensation claims

Facial injuries can be the most traumatic type of injury to have to come to terms with after an accident which was not your fault.  Even a minor facial injury might leave you with some level of scarring and in the case of a serious injury your appearance might be permanently altered, either by the injury, or by any subsequent reconstructive surgery you might have.  At Camps Solicitors we can help people who have suffered facial injuries in accidents where they were not at fault to claim the compensation they deserve.

Our personal injury lawyers and legal staff will handle any claim for facial injuries compensation sensitively and with understanding.  We know from experience that people who have suffered facial injuries may need extra support and help with any claim they choose to make.

In terms of guideline figures for the amounts of compensation likely to be paid out to people who have suffered facial injuries, it is once again time to delve into the Judicial Studies Board Guidelines for some figures, and here they are…

A fracture to the face can range from something that might only require minor manipulation to help it to heal fully right up to something that could leave the person affected with lasting facial deformities, or breathing difficulties (especially in the case of fractures to the nose).

Compensation figures for face injury claims

Figures for likely compensation amounts for a facial fracture range from a very simple fracture that requires no intervention, valued at between £1,100 and £1,600.   More substantial injuries such as a fractured cheekbone, might receive compensation between £1,500 and £10,100 depending on whether surgery was required and whether the injured person was left with any permanent side effects such as loss of feeling.  At the top end of the scale for fractures, complex fractures to the frontal facial bones, or very serious jaw fractures requiring prolonged treatment might see compensation awards of between £15,250 and £23,500 for the frontal facial fractures and between £19,500 and £29,000 for most serious category of jaw fractures.

In tomorrow’s blog, I will be looking at other facial injuries such as damage to the teeth, and also facial disfigurement injuries.
