The family of a woman who was killed by a car on a pelican crossing in Leicester may make a motor accident compensation claim for their loss.
The victim was hit as she made her way across the A607 Melton Road earlier this week and died before reaching hospital, despite car drivers and other pedestrians coming to her aid.
The vehicle that struck her was believed to be a red Ford Ka, which drove away from the scene, and police have since announced that a 72-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
If he is convicted, the woman’s family may be able to make a motor accident compensation claim against him.
The police have appealed for witnesses to help establish the course of events.
