Man in fraudulent bus accident claim case admits he wasn’t even on board

A man from Northern Ireland who claimed personal injury compensation for an injury he said he suffered as a passenger on a bus has admitted to a court that he wasn’t onboard at the time of the collision.

The 58 year old man pleaded guilty to submitting a false insurance claim following the bus crash in Belfast city centre which took place in July 2006.  Despite withdrawing the claim at a later date, the bus operator Translink decided to take the matter to court, where a judge ordered the man to pay their full legal costs, which amounted to more than £2,700.

The bus company had used CCTV footage from the cameras installed in its bus in order to establish that the man was not present on the bus at the time.

Bus accident compensation claims

If, unlike the man mentioned above, you are a genuine accident victim who has been injured in an accident whilst travelling as a passenger on a bus, then Camps Solicitors can help you to make a claim for bus accident compensation.  We also make compensation claims for people who have been injured when a bus has driven into their own vehicle and for pedestrians and cyclists who have been hit by buses.

As long as your bus accident was the fault of the bus driver then we can help you to make a claim against either the bus company or their insurance policy to get you No-Win No-Fee compensation for your injuries.  We have been in the accident claims business for over 25 years, and during that time we have helped tens of thousands of people to claim the compensation they are entitled to after being involved in accidents where they were not at fault.

From the moment you contact us to make your claim we will start work to investigate your claim.  Our solicitors and litigation executives will look at all the evidence, from CCTV recordings, police reports, eyewitnesses and photographic evidence to establish the exact nature of the accident and how you came to be injured.  Camps will also arrange for you to see an independent medical expert so that any injuries you have suffered can be examined and so that a report can be prepared on them for use as evidence in your accident compensation claim.

At your medical examination the doctor you see will also advise you as to whether you might benefit from any other treatment such as physiotherapy or surgical procedures.  Camps can include the costs of any medical treatments as part of your claim, so you won’t have to pay out a penny for these services.
