Shocking YouTube video captured lorry accident
The driver of a lorry who was caught on camera driving along a motorway with a car pinned to the front of his vehicle’s cab was today told he could keep his driving licence. The driver, who appeared for a hearing before the North West Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell was told he would be able to keep on driving large goods vehicles because he could not see, hear or smell the car that was trapped on the front of his lorry.
In fact, the lorry driver was praised for his actions in slowing down and pulling over to the hard shoulder, after other motorists had alerted him by flashing their hazard lights. In giving her verdict, the Traffic Commissioner said that he (the driver) had displayed coolness and a clear head when he realised the driver of the car was trapped. His actions in reversing on the hard shoulder to allow the car’s driver to get free were described as being “of huge credit (to him)”.
Some of the incident, which took place in January this year, was captured in a youtube video that went on to received hundreds of thousands of views after being featured on local and national news.
