All personal injury compensation claims are conducted according to a strict set of rules produced by the Civil Justice Council that are known as the civil procedure rules. In the last 10 years there have been numerous reforms that have tried to make the personal injury claims process faster, more accessible, fairer and less costly. However the proposals to reform and improve the claims process have been delayed by the Ministry of Justice, only days before the publication of an important new report into the legal industry.
The Jackson report was commissioned by the Master of the Rolls, one of the country’s top judges, in November last year. The report is expected to outline several proposals to reform the process of litigation for the benefit of both people making personal injury claims and the insurance companies who usually pay out the compensation. However it appears that the Ministry of Justice has decided to delay any reforms until April 2010 at the earliest – a significant delay.
As Camps Solicitors specializes in helping people injured through no fault of their own to make compensation claims against those responsible, we closely follow any legal developments from the Ministry of Justice and the Civil Justice Council.
