Insurance companies backing out of Rehabilitation?

Insurance company Norwich Union has insisted it remains committed to the rehabilitation of accident victims despite the departure of the staff member responsible for overseeing its rehabilitation scheme. NU’s rehabilitation claims manager has left the company after the role was made redundant.

Rehabilitation of injury victims is an area that some insurers still take lightly. By paying for the treatment of an accident victim as early as possible, they can not only help that person to get back to full health as quickly as possible, but they can also cut down the amount of money they need to pay out in compensation. Camps Solicitors encourages all insurances companies that it makes claims against to make interim payments to claimants for necessary medical treatment before the case is settled.

Reacting to claims that the company was changing its focus away from rehabilitation, a NU spokesperson said: “We are 100% committed to rehabilitation. It is business as usual. However, there has been some changes regarding the way we approach it and parts of the previous role have now been split between different functions within the company.” By introducing an evidence-based rehabilitation initiative Norwich Union had hoped to be able to save around 35% of the £250m it pays out every year for whiplash claims.

Camps Solicitors will fight not only for it’s clients to receive 100% of the compensation that they are entitled to, but we will also push for insurance companies to do more to help non fault accident victims that have been injured by their policyholders.
